From There to There: Bruce Ario, the Minneapolis Poet
In this unique documentary, viewers are given a glimpse into the life story of the late Minneapolis writer Bruce Ario, a law school dropout who suffered from schizoaffective disorder and a traumatic brain injury, thus rendering him homeless. Feeling more devastated by his homelessness than by his mental illness, only afterward does he come to realize his gifts as a talented poet and novelist while working odd jobs and writing in his spare time. From There to There explores Ario’s life and death through his poetic voice, as well as through his letters, novels, family footage, and tales from those who knew him. Combining both the love of nature with Ario’s love of Minneapolis, this visually rich film from Alex Sheremet and Joel Parrish delivers a story of personal triumph and spotlights the determination one finds in an extraordinary life. It is planned for wider screening and release in 2025.
